Where does the fat go when a person gains weight after liposuction ?
If a patient gets a significant amount of weight, more than 5 kg, following manipulation, then the fat must go somewhere on the body. Actually, fat accumulates in all zones of the body in proportion to amount of fat cells in each zone. Locations where fat cells have been remote by manipulation will accumulate relatively little fat, while in zones not treated, relatively more fat will be deposited. For instance, if a woman gains weight following manipulation of her outer thighs, hips and abdomen, then pro rata more of the fat will be deposited elsewhere such as the woman's face, breasts, back and legs.
