What is abdominoplasty ( tummy tuck ) ?

This is one of the list of surgical procedures demanding general anesthesia, and includes liposuction and excision to remove fat, plus a large excision of skin. The characteristic result is ordinarily a flatter tummy with a large scar stretching from pubic zone to the lower abdomen to anterior hips. Because the surgeon can immediately visualize the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall during procedure, lax abdominal muscles can be surgically tightened. Until notion of liposuction, a tummy tuck was the only surgical way for removing surplus abdominal fat. For many patients (but not for all) it can afford the same or better results than a tummy tuck. Since it is safer and produce less scarring, it is much more prevalent now.
