How is rhinoplasty performed ?

Surgery can be done with either the closed or opened technique. Incisions are made inside the nostrils in the closed technique. With the open technique, a small incision is made between and across two nostrils. Procedure generally involves separation of nose skin from its framework of cartilage and bone. After reshaping the bones and cartilage, the surgeon then replaces skin over the new framework, and applies a splint to help the nose maintain its new shape.
