Recovery after rhinoplasty

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER SURGERY

Cosmetic nose surgery is only the first step toward achieving the appearance you have always dreamed of. The key to a successful result is not only the surgeon’s work, but also proper postoperative care and careful management of the recovery period. At Arzni Aesthetica Plastic Surgery Clinic, we support our patients throughout the entire recovery process.

The First Steps After Surgery

To maintain the shape of the nose, a small cast is applied for 5 days after surgery, while soft silicone tampons are used to ensure the stability of the nasal septum and are removed after a few days.

Discharge from Arzni Aesthetica Surgicenter is permitted after the effects of anesthesia have completely worn off. During the first days, it is recommended to:

  • Maintain a quiet routine (reading, watching television).
  • Avoid physical exertion.
  • Sleep on your back with your head elevated approximately 30 degrees (this helps reduce swelling).

Swelling and Bruising: What Is Normal?

Swelling and bruising after rhinoplasty are natural and temporary. Their severity depends on several factors:

  • Skin type: Swelling tends to persist longer in people with thicker skin.
  • Complexity of the procedure: If significant reduction of the nose or revision surgery was performed, recovery may take slightly longer.
  • Individual characteristics: In the case of thin skin, bruising may be more visible, but it usually disappears within one week.

The best plastic surgeons note that although most of the swelling subsides within 3–5 weeks, the final shape may take longer to develop, so patience is necessary.

Important Guidelines for a Fast Recovery

To ensure that the result of your cosmetic procedure is flawless, follow these rules:

  • Diet: Start with light liquids (water, juice, broth) so that your stomach can adjust.
  • Glasses: Wearing glasses is prohibited for 8–10 weeks after surgery (contact lenses are permitted immediately).
  • Caution: Avoid sudden movements and trauma (sports, active games with children or pets).
  • Medications: Avoid medications containing aspirin and consult your surgeon regarding any medication use.

Trust the Professionals

The best plastic surgeons working at Arzni Aesthetica Plastic Surgery Clinic use delicate techniques that minimize postoperative discomfort. Most patients return to work after 7–10 days.

Complications During the Postoperative Period

Like any surgery, rhinoplasty also has its own risks. Although the procedure carries a low probability of risks, certain signs may nevertheless indicate that recovery is not progressing smoothly. To learn more, read the article Risks of Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
